Basic information about funeral services in Germany.

What types of burial are available in Germany?

In Germany, the main options are ground burial, cremation, nature burial (forest cemetery) and sea burial. We will advise you on all options and help you find the right choice for your family.

How soon must a funeral take place after death?

As a rule, the burial must take place within 4 to 10 working days after death, depending on the federal state. We coordinate all steps quickly and reliably on your behalf.

Do I need to speak German to use your services?

No — we speak German, English, Ukrainian, Russian and Hebrew. Our team accompanies you from start to finish in your native language.

Everything you need to know about funeral prearrangement.

What is funeral prearrangement?

Funeral prearrangement means deciding during your lifetime how your funeral should be arranged. This relieves your loved ones and ensures your final wishes are carried out.

At what age is prearrangement useful?

Prearrangement makes sense at any age. The earlier you plan, the more time you have to make a well-considered decision — and the better protected your family will be.

Can a prearrangement contract be changed later?

Yes, a prearrangement contract can be updated at any time. We will discuss any changes with you in a personal consultation.

Documents and official procedures after a death.

What documents are needed after a death?

Usually required are the medical death certificate, the deceased's ID document, and birth and marriage certificates if applicable. Friedenstor can handle all document organisation on your behalf.

Do I need to handle official procedures myself?

No — Friedenstor will take care of all official procedures for you: the registry office, health insurance, pension authorities and other institutions.

How long does the paperwork take?

The timeframe depends on the authorities and the scope of the formalities. We ensure all documents needed for the funeral are ready in time.

Support and guidance during your time of grief.

Do you offer grief counselling support?
