Cremation

The body is cremated and the ashes are placed in an urn. This form of burial offers more flexibility in choosing the final resting place.

Cremation is the process of burning the deceased's body at a crematorium, followed by interment of the ashes. The deceased is cremated in a coffin and the ashes are placed in an urn.

The Cremation Process and Farewell

Before cremation, a memorial service may be held at the request of loved ones or in accordance with the deceased's wishes. A religious ceremony may also take place, following the family's tradition. We will organise the farewell with full respect for all wishes and beliefs.

Choosing the Final Resting Place for the Urn

Compared to ground burial, cremation offers significantly more options for the final resting place. The urn can be interred at a cemetery, at the foot of a tree in a designated forest (Friedwald, Ruheforst), or at sea. Urn burial typically takes place in an intimate family setting.

Regulations and the Law

In Germany, the law requires the ashes to be interred in an urn — scattering ashes within the country is not permitted. However, in certain other countries (e.g. the Netherlands or Spain) this is allowed. We can help arrange any of the available burial options.
